The project consists of two new three-story, 15,000 square foot residence halls and a 30,000 square foot underground parking garage with space for 70 cars. The two residence halls provide 65 double beds, five resident advisor rooms, and a suite for the resident director. The underground garage allows the college to maximize green space and complete the residential landscaped quadrangle in this part of the campus.
The HVAC system consisted of an air-cooled chiller located on the roof, 2-pipe fan coils in each resident room and energy-recovery units for the common spaces. A DDC system is connected to Lasell’s campus energy management system to monitor the HVAC system. The garage is provided with a ventilation system with carbon monoxide controls. The interior lighting in the stairways is controlled by occupancy sensors that shut-off 50% of fixtures to conserve energy. The project was completed in 2009 at a cost of $12.25 million.
